afford的用法：
（1）买得起，经济上担负得起
直接跟名词或动词不定式作宾语，常和情态动词can或be able to连用。
He can afford the apartment.他能买得起这套住房。
We can’t afford to buy such an expensive car．我们买不起这么昂贵的汽车。
（2）抽出；放弃，丢下后面直接跟表示时间的名词作宾语
I can't afford an hour for lunch.我抽不出一小时吃午饭。
I can't afford three weeks away from work.我无法丢下工作三星期。
（3）提供，给与此时可以跟双宾语
The transaction afforded him a good profit.这笔交易使他赚了一大笔。
